A hidden gem for Texas homeschool families.
We spent the day exploring the Galveston County Museum and walked away incredibly impressed by the depth of history, the thoughtful displays, and the stories preserved throughout the museum.
From the powerful exhibits about the Storm of 1900, to the fascinating business and nightlife history of early Galveston, every room offered something that sparked conversation and curiosity. We especially loved seeing the local restaurant history, war exhibits, and even the unique coroner’s display that gave such an interesting glimpse into the past.
This was one of those field trips that reminded us why hands-on history matters so much. The exhibits helped bring Texas history to life in a way that books alone simply can’t do.
Thank you to the team at the museum for preserving and sharing the rich history of Galveston County and the surrounding areas. We truly enjoyed our visit and highly recommend it as a field trip stop for homeschool families exploring the Texas coast.
If your family loves Texas history, storytelling, and discovering the layers of the past, add this one to your list.

Field trip idea!
We explored the @moodygardens Rainforest pyramid and it was a trip that covered so many subjects. The possibilities are endless on topics you could dive into and learn about. Ecosystems, environments, climate, geography, conservation and endangered species are some of the main topics. But you can always deep dive like we did and study all the different animals, plants, birds, and architecture of the pyramids as well.
Texas Homeschool Families- add this to your field trip bucket list and you can always end it with a dinner at the @rainforest_cafe on the other side of the island and check out the river ride!
